Latest!

Hi all, Cowhead here.
Just a quick update for backers and readers.
Ive played a bit more this last couple of weeks trying to increase my volume as I was barely meeting the minimum for the Dobba Dolla stable. I would still like to get a few more sessions in where I can as its going alright and the av profit per game is decent.
Last update:
Sngs Played: 453
Profit/Loss: + $376
Currently:
Sngs Played: 578
Profit/Loss + $608
Bumped the av profit per game over $1 which I think isnt too shabby considering I'm mainly playing 27 man $3.50 games.
Other than that I went to DTD at the weekend for the 150 deepstack and got cooler/crippled after only a few hours in with 65dd v 34xx board played out 6x 5x 2d Td 9s and finished off when I shoved my remaining 9bbs a few hands later with KK after 4 limps and my shove the first limper calls with AK and spikes an Ace on the turn.
Had a wander round, had a bite to eat and re-enter and exit hand not long after is AQcc all in on a flop of Qx 9c 2c against 98xx and the fucking mong spikes 9 on the turn and I brick clubs on river to bust out again.
Really dissapointed with the weekend as I only decided to go late on Friday and to bust out twice the way I did just made it all the worse especially as I didnt come across anyone who looked remotely decent.
Thats all for now, Im gonna forget live for now as it does my head in anyway. The travelling makes it even worse when youve played or ran bad.
So about halfway through the online stake and Im happy with progress/profit, just need to ramp up the volume for the next 3 months and see where we're at then.
Thanks for reading.
Dave.

Sngs! FML!

Hello All, Cowhead here.
Just thought Id write a little update about the sng staking from the fellow Dobba lads.
I started for the lads on the 22nd of January and agreed to play a minimum of 50 sngs a week in the 18 mans on Stars starting at the $3.50's.
I went across to Bannisters that morning to spend some time with Stumpy and really got to grips with the basics of sngs again. A lot of the stuff Peter was saying I knew about as I used to play a tonne back in the day on UB but what I was missing from when I've been playing over the last couple of years (yes years lol) is self control, discipline and simply playing these very simply and strategically. tight early and loosen up late and really get back to grips with how to play bubbles effectively.
Anyway, this Sunday will be 9 weeks in and I'm doing ok.
I'm on track with the number of games I have to play (JUST). I really would have liked to have played about double what I have but there's been some things I've had to deal with away from poker which have been my main concern over the last month or so but deffo looking to ramp it up a bit in the coming weeks. I have to admit I also haven't had the urge to play because these are so monotonous that they do my head in but I'll live with that for what I want out of this.
I've been looking at the games I've played (453)so far and the boys have been pretty cool in letting me tinker in the 9's and 27's as sometimes I haven't enough time to play the 18's and sometimes when I've had sessions I like to mix in the 27's because they pay more.
The second picture above shows a breakdown of the games and I'm actually just turning a profit in the 18's but 27 stats are way better. There's also a few 6 and 9 mans and also played 5 x 90 mans which I've accidentally regged for while loading up my tables and showing profit in those too.
The top picture is my number of games overall and the two other samples are my last 2 sessions. I've stuck those stats in there just simply to show that even at these stakes and small fields these can be ridiculously swingy short term.
Anyway, that's all for now. I hope to keep this updated regularly to inspire and motivate myself to play more in the coming weeks/months.
Dave.

I feel so old

Alreet Stumpy here,

I went to my mates stag do up in Edinburgh it was a great laff but I feel so old as we went up on the 9.50 and planned to come back at 9pm the last train, well 3 of us got the 5pm back to Newcastle I was totally knackered and couldnt drink another drop, I slept all the way back and then played the genting £50 f/o drinking tea, I was cl with 5 left until I run kdjd into ak then kq into aj to finish 5th for £350.

Ive been busy with the training days trying to get all the players to a decent standard theres only a couple who are down at the moment hopefully we can get these back in profit and our aim is to finish the 6 months with all players in profit. The hardest for people to understand is the way the sngos work. All I get from the players is "im running so bad" even when there winning lol.

The reason for this is they are getting the chips in ahead most of the time but in some cases not massively ahead so u feel you are running bad but as long as you hold enough of the time you will win in the long run if you can except this and the beats the easier it becomes.

Hardley been able to play many online mtts this month but had 2 more fts but just small cashes to go with my $2.5k scoop on willy hill earlier in the month. Still cant win a penny on stars.

I started playing some hyper turbo sngs on ongame I got a good r/b deal nd a bonus to work off so going to give it a go for 2 months to see if the efforts worth it. Got off to a canny start and im winning which is a bonus as I think u can make a decent amount just by breaking even.

Went to a football retirement doo on Saturday for Peter Reynolds who was chairman of the footy team I played for then managed, it was great to see all the old players after the game there was a race night and the horses had the real names on lol well after picking or remembering what won the races I was 4 from 5 and £40 up the last race you had to bid for a horse and if the horse wins you get a Peter Beardsly signed boot in a display case so I bid and get the winner lol id actually backed the winner when the race was actually run it was a great night and alot of money made for charity.

Dobba returns & The Wedding

Finger out and time to post summit at “Stumpys Blog” !!!!

For someone that over blogged Im rather shocked to realise the last time I blogged was way back in October 2011 basically leaving Stumpy to carry the flag and keep readers in touch with whats happening at Teamdobbs.

Whats been happening and why no posts? Simply put I cudnt be arsed and on the poker front there hasn’t been that much to write about as I havnt been playing hardly at all. Online is my normal non existent bit of sng stuff to keep some sort of interest then a few weeks ago Stumpy throws me a few ideas about possible staking of a player from the NPF known as Machine which we agree a 6 month deal on, we invest some decent money in Andy “KQ4EVA” Blair and then soon after that myself Stumpy & Xenocode combine to form a group of players to stake for a wide cross section of Sngs on another 6 month deal which ends up as 9 players under the “Dobba Dolla” umbrella.

What do we offer them? Well basically we give them a workable bankroll with a guarantee of continued support for the 6 month period backed up with advice and detailed coaching sessions mainly from Stumpy at my premises. Over the agreed time we 100% fully expect that each player will prove profitable by simply good man management and BRM plus by sticking to the basic strategy Stumpy teaches them then they should all have a decent return for their time & efforts. So far so good with virtually every player in profit and some excellent input as well from Xenocode especially with 2 players we have put under his wing doing very well. No matter which format of SNG the player chooses to play we feel we can give them good advice & support and plug mainly basic leaks players tend to pick up my simply bashing on themselves.

Live poker has been basically non existent for me as finding it really difficult to find the enthusiasm to play even once per week. When I have played Ive felt Ive played very well in patches but then run bad in big hands which cost me or take a standard bad beat which never recover from. Due something very soon and feel it coming so hoping it may be in something nice and juicey like maybe the Genting £25k guaranteed game coming up 25th March which Ive entered into.

Booked Las Vegas for 2012 with one slight difference to normal, my Mrs aint coming this year. Shes decided she don’t fancy another trip to the poker mecca of the world so Im off there sharing with Knerrad and a few others which include Mr & Mrs Stumpy and the Tretts from Full Trett Poker fame…… beware those security guys from Bills Gambling Saloon!!! Flying out 11th June until the 21st on good old British Airways and thanks the Chris Leckie for sorting our flights out in World Eco Class but boooooo to British Airways who want £30 to pre book the seat of your choice. Fk that Ill take the chance we get seated together.

OK and now to the main part of this post and to whats been keeping the Collins family occupied over the last few months……. My daughters wedding.

Over 2 years ago since her fiancé proposed to her when she was successful in getting a job in Dubai and then they emigrated there to work & live the big day arrived. They had decided to get married in Thailand and chose a small resort in Koi Samui. Organising weddings are a huge thing and very stressful so my message to my daughter was get on with what you want but you sort it, shes a very good organisor by the way and very thorough when shes doing stuff.

We travelled over to Dubai 1st and stayed a couple of days there before flying into Bangkok then from there into Koi Samui.

Nearly 40 people made up the wedding party which is incredible when you think about it with ½ from the Uk and the other ½ their friends from Dubai making the long trip and expense it takes to be part of their very special day. As it happens the whole wedding party group were awesome with a lot of new friendships made but one slight hiccup that marred proceeding was Davids Mam took ill on the plane from Dubai to Bangkok which steadily got worse and eventually she was admitted into hospital in Koi Samui diagonosed with Bronchittus which was later changed to influenza. She ended up in hospital for 4 days and missed the actual wedding and the best that could be done was a live stream was set up and she was able to watch the ceremony from her hospital bed on a lap top.

Stag night was eventful as Samoui wasn’t really ready for 16 blokes in full fancy dress and it caused a lot of interest from locals & tourists around town. Fun night had by all with a 16 stone rugby playing Amy Winehouse double attracting a lot of attention and even one of the lads enjoyed a nice quiet game of pool with one of local “ ladies” or is it laddies!????

The resort we were at was very private and ran by an English guy and attention to detail was amazing as well as an amazing location away from a lot of the hussle bussle from the main resort. A perfect choice to be honest especially for a wedding.

And so to the wedding day. There was to be 2 cermonies with a traditional Thai wedding followed by a more traditional Western wedding.

Feature of the Thai wedding was to be the entrance that was kept secret from all the guests and that was once seated then the bride & groom arrived along the beach on an Elephant. Entrance was pretty amazing and shocked most of the guests.

Into my posh togs now and my job of giving my daughter away at the Western wedding.

A pretty nervous and emotional time but I kept myself together well imo and a very proud dad handed Natalie over to her soon to be husband. Ceremony was fantastic and then after getting stuck into plenty of wine the day flowed into the reception again on the beach and night time disco n dancing.

Speeches etc seemed to go well and about just before midnight the over indulgence in the wine seemed to take its toil and I hit a brick wall knowing I needed my bed badly. The night time featured fire dancers, blazing lanterns we all released on the beach and a firework display which was quite simply amazing. Deffo a day to remember and a holiday of a lifetime for many. Some absolutely fantastic pictures all over facebook and some lovely remarks and comments about how much people enjoyed the wedding and the holiday.

Quite impressed with Thailand although it’s a long haul but a beautiful place where we were. Coming back we flew on the Emirates new A380 airbus from Bangkok to Dubai which was absolutely amazing and the best plane Ive been on by miles.

Arrive back to the cold of the UK and looking forward to the warmer months ahead and hopefully some success on the felt which is long overdue but Im convinced its just around the corner so watch this space

Be lucky and Ill try n keep my next update sooner rather than later

Run Gooooood

Alreet Stumpy here,

This game never ceases to amaze, after running bad in january but playing really well, I won the genting friday £50 f/o it is now unlimited re-entry and its a good job as my 1st bullet i played shite then i re-entered and basicly nitted it up until 3 tables out ( 77 entries ) Then i got about 12 shoves thro when short stacked until i got my dup just b4 the ft.I went to the ft with 24k i make a couple of good folds and get lucky in a couple of spots and tid for £925 +£ 200 added seat for gentings newcastle championships on 24th of march. It was a great night with samj, junior bomber, bgr1 and scoop hitting the 2 for a fiver japenese beer which is called itchyfanny, well thats what it looks like its called to me .

Then on the monday night i take down the $50 f/o on willy hill for 2.5k.When we on the ft bubble i was on the bttn with 107 and the small blind was the tightest player on earth nd the bb was sitting out so i just shoved and the sb tank called with 88 1st card 10 and i double up.Then i ladder the ft well until 3 left and from then on i pissed it weeeeeeee

After these couple of wins mrs stumpy and i decide to go down to leeds for the gala £100 +£50 addon game we travel down on the friday and enjoy a nice chinese meal with ridla who was great company and a really nice lad ( well i thought so till he he give this woman on my table some horrible abuse lol ) we then headed over to play there friday night game joined by the beautiful racheal costa who has just got a engineering job in manchester.Good luck with job and the flathunting.

Its a £20 £20 £20 game 75 runners and i didnt even make the 1st break
1st bullet 1010 v kj aipf
2nd bullet 76 flopped 1 pair and f/d v ak he hits a on turn and holds
3rd bullet shoved btn a4 sb has 99

I make a nice £360 profit in a very juicy £2+£2 plo cash game i then head back and rail mrs stumpy who has made ft in the tourney eventually finishing 6th for £210

We head back to the ibis hotel which is like an 18s-30 holiday with a group of girls in the next room partying hard eventually getting to sleep only to be woken at 5am by some monkey running down the corridor banging on everyones door, cheers mate. The next day we meet up with samj, bomber, buzz, ridla and dean robinson whos living down ther at the moment and enjoy an excellent buffet.

£100 + £50 addon 109 runners.

I get a good first table but things go bad right from the start 10k s/s with 10k addon and a 40min clock so plenty of play

9d7d- raise 3 callers flop 10d9c3d c-bet and called in 1 spot turn 2d c-bet and called river brick and he leads 2k i call and he tables kd4d

jd9d- raised 2 callers flop 993 i c-bet and called in 2 spots turn 4 the sb leads out 1500 i call other folds river is a j and sb chks which confused me a little but ch behind and he tables a9.

qq- raise 2 callers flop qj10 c-bet and called turn 10 c-bet and called rvr a and i shove my last 4k but he folds.

ackc -woman limps aggro kid iso raises so i decide to flat and go for the rope a dope flop is a54 r and he c-bets i flat woman folds turn 10 he bets i call rvr 5 he bets i call he says air and i tid which gets me back to s/s

I get moved tables and i tread water for the rest of the day until i dup with 77 v aq aipf and make day 2 with 49k.Myself, Cameltoe & teamdobb had backed samj and he ended off bluffing 97k off just before the end of day 1 sigh.

DAY 2 -

Newcastle had 7 return for day 2 racheal, gladys, hazel, mrs stumpy, chinese alan, and latif with 27 left and 11 payed When there was 13 left they decided to pay 2 bubbles of £150 i rase 44 from the cutoff and called by bb flop 7c5c2d i c-bet but bb shoves i decide to fold as at best he has 2 overs with f/d.I ship blind 2 hands later as i was inthe blinds next and didnt want to go to low but i get called by ak, and gladys gambled her last 16k with 76 i have q2 flop qa2 xx weeeeeeee

I get to ft where the 2 big cls decide to get it allin with 66 v kq and i then dup aa v kk against latif who goes out shortly after then when there was 7 left we take 1k each and play on for the rest very next hand coff raises and i reshove with 99 he has qq and im out in 7th for 1k.Well done to hazel who finished 5th fot 1.5k.

It was a great weekend with some cracking people and hopefully wil be back soon.

keep on smiling stumpy.

Jan Review

Alreet Stumpy here,

2011 Player of the month playoff at the G Casino ended off with 9 players who won the monthly most amount of winnings from the tournamnets playing for the 5k live mtt package.
I felt had a great chance in this with my sngo experiance and everything was going to plan when I was siting in 2nd place and just starting to up the aggression when I doubled the shorty up 3 times in 1 orbit but then won a couple of small pots v Hugh Frew who was cl and then I pick up QQ. Hugh raises nd I 3 bet he ships 99 I call and theres half the chips in play in this pot and if I win this I felt confident Icould tid but the ugly 9 on the river killed my hopes of the 5k package.
M Arnott tookit down and he was the shorty I dupped 3 times and he still only had 6k when I left wp sir.

Live Ive ran shit at the key times and had no cashes.Havent played many seshes online but ran just as bad online.
The reason I havent played much is Xenocode,Teamdobb and I have started a little staking and coaching venture. The idea came about when I coached Machine for a day and his winrate shot up and thought theres loads of players on the NPF who are very capeable of winning at sngos with a little bit of coaching and backing as alot dont have the discipline for whatever reason to do it by themselves. So after talking it through with Dave & Gary we put a thread up on the forum and we were unindated with replys. We have 9 started already and hopefully a few more once we get these players settled. Its going ok at the moment but early days so fingers crossed all will crush and make a profit. Alot of hard work by all concerned and good that theres 3 of us to bounce off each other but the mix is good and early signs are its going to be a success provided we keep on top of it and all concerned work hard at what we have set out.

The month was saved by Mrs Stumpy chopping a Tuesday night for £400 and then going onto win the added seat for £200 game. Also Cameltoe chopped a mtt and I got £200 from that in our usual long standing % swop and Craig my son made a small profit when he played live twice.

Played in the CGcup for Northern Lights as Teamdobbs had 11 so I dropped out as I wasnt sure I could get time off work but got the Sunday off at the last minute so played for Mrs Stumpys team who eventualy finished 3rd.
I was out early when Cowhead from Teamdobbs had nutflush v my flush.Well done to Cinderbella and Delta Bravo who both ft for Northern Lights and also to Hetton who romped away with it to tid in style wpwp.

Eventually after alot of promising I actually started my diet and ended 4 ibs down. Be interesting to see if I can maintain the loss at end of next month

2011 review

Alreet Stumpy here,
These were my goals at the start of the year

1,Keep working on improving my mtt play.= Yup worked hard to improve my game watching cardrunner vids and playing more mtts.

2,play 4k sngos 45 mans and 9 mans= Nope once gaz walker won me over 9k didnt need to grind the sngos and it gave me more time to work on my mtt game.

3,Play more bigger games live as the small amount ive played i have 5 fts=Yup Played 2 ukipts and 1 £550 gukpt and 2 side events and 1 leg of spanish poker tour in majorca.

4,Try to help mrs stumpy improve her game(done amazing upto now playing 2 years and made a profit both years) needs to take the next step= nope we never seem to have the time but deffo going to try and make time.

5,Win the apat team game for the npf= nope bubbled the points in bolton and if id finished top 2o probably would of won. Then luton i final tabled but with george lawson the only other point scorer we fell short.

6,keep enjoying poker.yup trying to keep the balance of enjoying poker and making money which ive just about succeeded most of the year.

life goals

1,lose weight (getting another knee op on the 3rd of feb so hopefully get back to full fitness which will make it easier to lose weight)=massive fail im now the heaviest ive ever been i need to sort this soon.

2,keep enjoying life to the max=At times ive really struggled this year with my health and the kids have really tested my sanity but hopefully they are maturing at last, they are 17 and 20 and nice kids at heart but were hard work in 2011.

final figures

live mtts = + £4.9k

live cash = - £120

online mtts = + $7k

sngos = - $500

6,Improving my online mtt game where im now confident i can make a nice profit

lowlights

1.Had 2nd knee op and been told nothing more they can do and come back when you need a new knee.

2.Going deep in day 1 at ukipt dtd only to lose big stack v fd that got there on the river

3,The closure of fulltilt losing about $1600ish but i suppose this could of been a hell of lot worse

4,The death of joe peel who i miss from the tables at circus, you were always gauranteed a good laugh when joe was on your table

5.And finally, standing in the hotel foyer at 4am watching the doc working on Teamdobb ( Dave Collins ) and just saying in my mind ffs please dont die, thank god he made an amazing recovery.

Happy Xmas and a Very Merry New Year

Alreet Stumpy here,

I was really looking forward to the sky poker at aspers but got up on the saturday morning and felt really rough,I thought a few bottles would put me right but as the day wore on i felt worse so mrs stumpy, knerrad, teamdobb and simmy headed over the road for a chinese that would pull me round emm after the soup we had to leave and had to stop the car on the way home spewing.I was ill for about 5 days felt hungary had something to eat spewed luvlee. As for the poker in the mtt i gave my chips to dan trett pretty early on who then went on to put them to good use by finishing 2nd and was very unlucky he didnt win with a couple of badbeats hup.Iwas over the moon for dan who over the last couple of years has played some great poker without much luck so this was a well deserved result and many more to come imo.

On the sinday after sky i was supposed to play the smoggies league playoff was really looking forward to this as well but ob missed this and was gutted. Was so pleased for Pam Butler for her win a great result for a lovely lady x

Online ive had 4 fts on willy hill and im running really hot on there but its the opposite on stars where i cant win a hand.Started off the month with a 4th in the 30r for $1330 a 3rd in a 2r and 3rd in a 20 f/o for $354 and $344 and finished the month with a 2nd in a 15r for $2795.

Live i played only twice this month had a 4 way chop in the circus/genting £50 f/o for £500 it was an old school ft with jonny the greek, andy wilson and gary collins chopping it up.

Got staked for the sky £100 rebuy on the npf but it ended up a nitemare as my puter was playing up not helped by skypoker lagging terribly with 5 tables up as it happened with hands i got never really got anything going sorry guys.

When the boat came in

Alreet Stumpy here,

Went to a rugby reunion and had a canny day loads to drink and plenty of old time crack my favourite story was hazzas, after one game wed had a few pints and called into the halfway house pub and it was abit cold and we were all sitting round chatting when hazza picks up a bar stool and smashes a leg off and throws it in the fire everyone just looked in amazement as the stool leg bounced off the imitation coal fire and bounced onto the floor.lol.

live poker -Only played twice live due to having toothache most of the month couldnt be arsed to play or do much tbh had 1 ft for 8th.

Online poker -Had an 8th in the £100 f/o on skypoker ukops event ran kk into aa then finished 22nd in the ipoker 200kg i satted in for $22 and got $1145 reshipped with aj into aa doh.
Apart from those results ran like shit or played bad, im blaming my toothache well you have to blame something.

Staking-Had samj over at mine for a grind and he chopped the $11r on stars for $5.2k which i got half he played a couple of more session without any joy and has since obtained a fulltime staker so good luck with that sam. The only leaks he has now have nothing to do with poker as his game is top notch. He just needs to stop the brainfarts and hes ganna crush imo.

Horses-Break even for the month in running betting, but blew $500 betting pre race on the breeders cup.

live mtts - £80 played 2

live cash - £120 1 session

online mtts +$ 1,047 played 135

staking +$2,400

horses - $500

Played about 16 hours of 50/1 plo 6 max cash for a small profit as ive been thinking about a new challenge next year but we will see.

Keep on smiling stumpy.

It's been a while!

Cowhead here.
Well it's been a while since I blogged so thought I'd get on and do my annual review.
This year has been very stop start for me Poker wise. I've been concentrating on work stuff and online has taken a back seat for the most part.
To keep it brief highlights of the year really haven't really been very high but the NPF Team Championships went well for me personally. Again the dobbas took it down and I plced 4th individually falling to fellow dobba Paul Sewell after I made a mad push.
Day 1 was a breeze tbh, I was sober and a drink didn't pass my lips all day, I played tight for the most part (in true dobba nit style) only problems I had was with some kid from Ace of Clubs called Ty. He was pissed before the tourney actually started, got a big stack and totally ran over the table.
Day 2 I decided to have a few pints with a couple of team mates and Knerrad.
Big mistake, I reshoved out of turn with AA early on when a kid to my right was about to ship with 99 so I missed out on a juicey pot there. I made some other horrendous mistakes but none too damaging to my stack and like I said I donked out 4th when I felt I had a decent chance of taking it down. Only other memories of the day really was a superb performance from Buzz.
I haven't really played anything else live except for my Monthly Boldon 30 quid freeze out where I won the DTD league which I haven't played yet. Hopefully I'll get down there in January and obv bink that.
Hetton Thursday League has been another highlight for me,, I was invited by Gaz Scoop to play their League for the APAT which I squeezed into in the last League game.
That was largely uneventful at Dtd as I donked out in about 4 hours (obv too much to drink again)
Other than that I have played here and there online. Firstly Blair dog staked me earlier on in the year and returned him a few bob but spunked off my roll on FTP playing (again) drunk, still havent apologised for that yet but as I said I made him a few quid so not bad overall and even if I hadn't done that fucking LEDERER woulda had the twat anyway.
As for me personally online, It's been stop start for reasons already mentioned.
Had one or two 4 figure scores but all under 2k.
For most of the year I've made Silver star on stars without putting much in and might try and play a lot more next year but not sure what I want to play yet, whether it be sngs or mtts or a mix.
I've been trialling cash this last 2 weeks but I think it's given me a brain tumour. What a grind it is. Hats of to all cash grinders out there, you have to be nuts to do that imo.
Next up for me is the Smoggies League Live Final in a few weeks time. Im in a decent starting position after a few wins and a few extra starting chips, again, obv I'm gonna ship that.
The crack in the games online on Wednesday nights have been good and will be a special day to see all the lads together and have a laugh.
After that I think I'm calling it a day for the rest of the year. A nice break and Xmas is on the agenda then back on it in January.
Take care and be lucky and have a Great Xmas all.
Dave.
